Meet Our Founders
Get to Know
Dr. Alex Otto
Dr. Alex Otto is a nationally recognized pediatric dentist, speaker, healthcare executive, and leader in pediatric dentistry. Alongside her husband, Tim Otto, she is the co-founder of Alcan Dental Cooperative and serves as the organization's Chief Dental Officer. Alcan is dedicated to helping independent pediatric dentists thrive while preserving doctor-led ownership and clinical autonomy. The Ottos are also the founders of Kids Tooth Team, a growing pediatric specialty group practice serving children throughout Texas and Michigan, and Kids Tooth Team Outreach, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that utilizes a mobile dental clinic to bring free dental care directly to underserved elementary schools throughout Central Texas. Through these efforts, the organization has donated nearly $1 million in dental care to children in need. In addition to her executive leadership responsibilities, Dr. Otto continues to practice chairside full-time and serves as the Medical Director of Dentistry at Texas Children’s Hospital Austin, where she oversees the hospital’s dental clinic and serves as the pediatric dentist on the Craniofacial Team. She is passionate about building sustainable, doctor-led pediatric dental organizations that prioritize exceptional patient care, clinical excellence, innovation, and long-term professional independence.
A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, Denver Health Medical Center’s General Practice Residency, and NYU Langone’s Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry program in Alaska, Dr. Otto is a nationally recognized leader within organized dentistry. She currently serves as President of the Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Secretary-Treasurer of the Southwestern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Chair of the Texas Dental Association Council on Professions and Trends, National Private Practice Expert Consultant to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s Safety Committee, and Texas Representative to the American Dental Association Council on Advocacy for Access and Prevention. She is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and has been inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, and Pierre Fauchard Academy. A sought-after speaker and advisor, Dr. Otto lectures nationally on pediatric dentistry, leadership, artificial intelligence in healthcare, emerging technologies, and the future of independent practice. She has been recognized as one of the American Dental Association’s “Top 10 Under 10” Dentists in America and as an Incisal Edge “40 Under 40” recipient. Her work focuses on advancing patient care, supporting independent pediatric dentists, and helping shape the future of both the pediatric dental specialty and the profession as a whole.

Tim Otto
Tim Otto is a proud alumnus of the University of Denver. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a double major in Finance and Management and went on to receive his International MBA and received the Excellence in Managerial Leadership award during his time there. Tim is and experienced executive and entrepreneur who has worked in national management roles for Fortune 500 companies before joining forces with Dr Alex to create Alcan.
Prior to his time in corporate America, Tim was the founder of several successful startup companies, and sold his first company through a leading M&A firm at the age of 25. His business acumen, along with his expertise in developing tools, techniques and processes that allow for strategic, intelligent and sustained growth give Alcan Dental Cooperative the best of both worlds. A practitioner you know will have your best interests at the forefront of every decision and a business mind you can trust.

Gracie Nethery
Marketing
Gracie Nethery is the Marketing Specialist for Alcan Dental Cooperative, where she leads all marketing initiatives across the Alcan offices. She joined the team as an intern in the summer of 2025 and has since transitioned into her current role, bringing fresh energy and a growing expertise in brand strategy to the cooperative.
Gracie is finishing up her degree in Advertising with a minor in Business and Entrepreneurship at the University of Texas at Austin — Hook 'em!
What Gracie loves most about Alcan is the people and the purpose. She's passionate about marketing that means something — building a brand that reflects the warmth and trust patients feel every time they walk through the door. She's grateful to be part of a team that genuinely cares about doing right by patients and each other.
Outside of work, Gracie enjoys spending time with her friends and her five brothers, traveling, cooking and exploring all that Austin has to offer, and of course, cheering on the Longhorns!
Johno Oberly
Training Director
Johno Oberly is Director or Training for Alcan Dental Cooperative, where he designs the training systems that keep dental teams sharp. He spent his early career inside Dallas Independent School District designing curriculum and running training for school board leadership, instructors, and administrators. This work helped reshape district policy around student-centered outcomes. From there, he held senior learning roles at Meteor Education and Leadership ISD, building content and resources adopted by school systems across the country.
His driving conviction: culture and consistency matter more than content. At Alcan, that means regular, kind, and human-powered training that gives dental teams real-time coaching and steady reinforcement. This reflects more than a decade of designing programs that change adult behavior, now pointed squarely at delivering better patient experiences.
Frank Alvarez
HR & Compliance Mgr.
Frank serves as the Human Resources & Compliance Manager for Alcan Dental Cooperative, where he leads human resources strategy, compliance, employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, payroll administration, and organizational development across multiple pediatric dental practices.
With more than a decade of experience in human resources leadership, Frank has held HR roles with organizations including Amazon Web Services (AWS), PepsiCo, and Papa Johns. His background spans high-growth operations, workforce planning, leadership coaching, employee experience, and building scalable people systems that support both business performance and exceptional patient care.
Frank earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from Baylor University and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Texas A&M University. He is passionate about creating workplaces where employees feel supported, leaders are equipped to succeed, and organizations can grow through strong systems, clear communication, and a culture of accountability.
At Alcan Dental Cooperative, Frank partners closely with practice leaders to develop modern HR programs, strengthen compliance, improve operational consistency, and help teams deliver outstanding care to the families they serve.
Wes Johnson
Regional Manager
As a Regional Manager in the dental industry, Wes Johnson brings over 20 years of retail management experience and 8 years of dedicated work in the dental field. As a Regional Manager he is committed to leading high-performing teams and delivering operational excellence across multiple locations. His focus is on improving patient outcomes, supporting staff development, and driving organizational growth through strategic leadership and collaboration. Wes values building strong relationships with providers, partners, and team members while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Passionate about advancing quality healthcare, Wes strives to create positive experiences for both patients and the professionals who serve them.
Outside of work, Wes is a lifelong Philadelphia Phillies Phanatic! Whenever he has the chance he and his family love to take advantage of the state and national parks available in Texas and enjoy the Texas coast.
Raul Carrillo

With more than 12 years of experience in the dental industry, Raul Carrillo brings a wealth of knowledge in practice management, operational leadership, and insurance credentialing. As Regional Manager, he is dedicated to supporting teams, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring every practice delivers an exceptional patient experience while maintaining the highest standards of care.
A proud graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, Raul earned his bachelor's degree and remains a lifelong Longhorns fan—Hook 'em! He is passionate about building strong teams, streamlining processes, and creating systems that allow both patients and employees to thrive.
Raul believes that great leadership is built on collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth. His commitment to supporting providers and team members helps create an environment where outstanding patient care and operational excellence go hand in hand.
Outside of work, Raul enjoys cheering on the San Antonio Spurs and Texas Longhorns, and whenever he has the chance, spending a relaxing day at the beach with family and friends.

Breezy Rourk
Social Media Coordinator
Breezy Rourk is a social media marketing strategist with over 15 years of experience helping brands grow through authentic storytelling and strategic organic marketing. She earned her Master of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Health Promotion and Wellness from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, blending her passion for health, wellness and human connection with creative marketing.
Throughout her career, Breezy has partnered with multi-location fitness studios, non-profit organizations, pediatric dental practices, beauty and wellness brands, real estate professionals, and local businesses to elevate their online presence through engaging content, video production, photography, social media strategy, consulting and management.
When she’s not creating content, Breezy enjoys spending time with her black lab, Sophie and loves living in Louisiana, where she’s close to her family and Cajun roots. In her free time, you’ll find her gardening, riding bikes, exploring local favorites or stopping to pet just about every dog she meets.

Randall Smith
Business Dev. Dir.
Randall (Randy) comes to Alcan from the technology sector. After 29 years in technology (19 years with Hewlett-Packard/10 years with Dell), he retired from Dell in 2021. During this time, he led various organizations in the Enterprise segment. As a director, he led both sales and engineering in nationally based GTM endeavors including healthcare, finance, engineering and cloud-based initiatives. AI deployment and infrastructure design with Nvidia was a chief element among these verticals. One of his last organizational projects was working with his team to design a gnomic research high performance computing environment with one of New York’s largest healthcare institutions. He received much recognition and awards during his career.
After Dell, Randy focused on environmentally and socially enriching pursuits from volunteering as a history teacher to assisting organizations that were focused on programs to benefit both international and local based communities.
Randy is married to his college sweetheart Melissa who works at a dental office in the town where they live outside of Austin. Their oldest daughter is finishing her master’s degree at Tufts University in Museum Sciences and their younger daughter is beginning her journey at the University of Oklahoma this fall with plans to study radiology. Animal lovers, their family also includes three spoiled animals – two dogs and a cat.
Our Advisors
Dr. Jae Grymes D.D.S
Dr. Jae Grymes was born and raised in Washington, DC. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from the University of Maryland. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Grymes completed a General Practice Residency in Los Angeles. Deciding to dual specialize, she completed a 2 year residency in pediatric dentistry at Children’s Hospital Colorado and a 3 year residency in dental anesthesiology at Stony Brook Medical Center.
Dr. Jae is committed to being a lifelong learner and regularly attends continuing education courses. Her practice philosophy is evidence based, detail oriented, and centered on patient (and parent) education. Additionally, she is board certified both in pediatric dentistry and anesthesiology. She maintains an active membership in several dental organizations, including the American Dental Association. Dr. Grymes holds current certifications in Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Jae is an active mentor and a volunteer with the Miracle Messages organization. Additionally, she enjoys reading, running, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. James Singleton
Dr. James Singleton was born and raised in Southern California. He attended Northwestern University Dental School, graduating in 1983 and then attended the University of Illinois for his pediatric residency graduating in 1985. He joined the Indian Health Service and was stationed on the Navajo reservation for 4 years. Dr. Singleton moved to Alaska in 1989 where he would become the Area Pediatric Dental Consultant and teach the pediatric dental portion of the Advanced General Practice Residency Program at the Alaska Native Medical Center. In 2005 he became the founding Associate Director of the NYU Langone Pediatric Dental Residency Program, Alaska Site. He served in the United States Public Health Service and after 20 retired with the rank of Captain. He is board certified in Pediatric Dentistry, a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He has served as a site visitor for the American Dental Association Committee on Dental Accreditation, and a Board Examiner for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is married, has two grown sons and three beautiful granddaughters. He enjoys all things outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing and cycling with family and friends in Alaska.
